Montechiaro d'Asti
Italian Version

Montechiaro d'Asti
It was founded on 19 March 1200, when 93 men from the villages of Pisenzana, Mairano and Maresco swore allegiance to the Podestà of Asti, gaining Asti citizenship and permission to found a new “villa”. It then followed the destiny of the Commune of Asti in the fighting against the Marquises of Monferrato. It came under the dominion of the Visconti’s during the XIV century and was included in
Valentina Visconti’s dowry. After the peace at Cambrai it finally became a dominion of the House of Savoy.
